Details  •The patients age should be 18 years and above.
•Patient must be diagnosed with chronic skin disease for minimum six month or more (psoriasis, acne vulgaris, chronic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, chronic hair disorders, vitiligo, autoimmune connective disorders, auto immune blister disorders) and undergoing treatment.
•Patients who are willing to participate
•Patients who know English Kanada.

Brief Summary  

Study will be conducted after obtaining appropriate permission in the dermatology unit of Kasturba Hospital Manipal. The participants will be explained about the study and their participation in the research. Samples are selected using a purposive sampling technique. To assess the self-esteem and quality of life among the chronic skin disease patient quantitative survey approach will be used. The researcher has adopted descriptive survey. After obtaining the necessary administrative permission and CTRI registration, the data will be collected by administering the tools to the participants. Informed consent will be taken from the participants prior to the data collection and confidentiality of the data will be maintained.

The data collection for background information will be collected by using:

a)     Demographic Proforma- Age, gender, religion, marital status, education, occupation, place of residence, type of family and family income.

b)     Clinical Proforma- anthropometric measurement, medical history, compliance to medication, response to medication, past medical history, history of substance abuse

The background information will be collected when the patients come to the dermatology OPD for follow up. The self-esteem and quality of life among the chronic skin disease patient will be assessed by the standardized tools that is Rosenberg self-esteem and dermatology index of quality of life.
