Brief Summary
|
Oral health is a key indicator of overall health, well - being and quality of life. The WHO Global oral health Status rEPORT ( 2022) estimated that oral diseases affect close to 3.5 billion people worldwide. Patients in hospital, especially those in ICU need specialized care. Ventilator associaed pneumonia ( VAP) is the most common nosocomal infection. One major factors causing VAP is the aspiration of oral colonization because of poor oral practice. Oral complication may arise as a result of the medical treatment delivered in an ICU. Intubation of the mouth causes, xerostoma, mucositis, gingivitis, halitosis. Hydrogen peroxide is a colorless with a strong oxidizing activity that has been used as a anti - plaque agent and has a killing effect on gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It effectively reduces gingival infections.so as a investigator i want to see the effect of hydrogen peroxide on oral hygiene among patient admitted in ICU. the objectives of my study are: 1.To assess the level of oral hygiene among patients admitted in ICU. 2. To assess the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide solution on oral hygiene among patients admitted in ICU. 3. To find the association between the level of oral hygiene among patients admitted in ICU.
