Brief Summary

Ultrasonography provides simple non invasive method of quantifying diaphragmatic movements. Imaging diaphragm with ultrasound can be done by measuring diaphragm thickening fraction (DTF). Diaphragmatic parameters determined by bedside ultrasonography can predict weaning outcome with better performance than conventional parameters. The primary objective is to determine the diagnostic accuracy of diaphragm thickening fraction (DTF) in predicting weaning success. After spontaneous breathing trial, rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI) will be calculated. The thickness of the diaphragm at maximum inspiration (TDmax) and maximum expiration (TDmin) will measured as the Diaphragm Thickening Fraction (DTF).
