Brief Summary   Malnutrition is a very serious problem for a developing nation. India must have got rid of serious physically debilitating diseases like polio today, but due success has not yet been achieved in tackling the malnutrition rate. Apart from this, Chhattisgarh state, which currently has a malnutrition rate of 40% (Survey NFHS Nutrition in India 0D56,2005- 06), has taken very effective steps against this problem, including successful Food Security Act, Chief Minister’s Nutrition Program, Women and Child Development Department.1 The Nava Jatan program organized by, Malnutrition Mukti Abhiyan is the main one. Due to the meaningful efforts of the Central and State Governments, the rate of severe malnutrition has decreased from 51% (N.F.H.S. 02) in the previous survey to 45% (N.F.H.S. 03).2 Malnutrition not only makes the child physically disabled but also leads to various serious diseases. This survey study is proposed to identify the rate of malnutrition in the patients attending OPD/IPD of Kaumarbhritya department in the hospital and health checkup camps organized by dept. of Kaumarbhritya outside and inside the campus of GACH Bilaspur.
