Brief Summary
|
Adolescents merely do not spend time in school just in academics but are also developing socially, emotionally, and physically. In previous research, it was seen that there is a correlation between mental health and academic achievement. So, the current research study aims to study the academic achievement and mental health among school-going adolescents in Shillong, Meghalaya. This research seeks answer the following research questions 1) What is the relationship between socio-demographic variables, mental health, and academic achievement in school-going adolescents in Shillong, Meghalaya? 2) What is the relationship between academic achievement and mental health of adolescents in school-going adolescents in Shillong, Meghalaya? The participants of the study will be school-going adolescents in Shillong, Meghalaya. A quantitative approach will be used with a descriptive research design. Two-stage cluster sampling method will be adopted to carry out the current study. One school will be selected randomly from each of the 4 clusters, namely, North, South, East, and West. Data will be collected from all students in classes 7-10 by the total enumeration method. Adolescents are expected to belong to 13-16 years. Those meeting the inclusion criteria of 13-16 years and giving consent will be included in the study. 367 school-going adolescents will form the minimal sample of the study. The following tools will be administered: Socio-demographic profile sheet and Strength and Differences Questionnaire. The results of the study will helpful in finding out if there is an association between mental health and academic achievement among school-going adolescents. |
