Brief Summary   SandhigataVata is the common form of SandhigataVyadhi. It is a type of Vatavyadhi. The word SandhigataVata mainly having two parts: Sandhi Anatomical aspect and Vata- Physiological aspect of body. Acharya Charaka has described this condition under the chapter of Vatavyadhi and defined that vitiated Vata when gets its place in Sandhi, then the symptoms like air filled bag (Vatapurandrittisparsh), Shotha and pain on flexion and extension of joints (Prasarana Akunchana Pravrittishcha Savedana) occurs. Acharya Madhavkar also has mentioned the symptoms Hantisandhi, Sandhishula, Sandhishothaand Atopa². The pathologic underpinning of this diseaseare attributing to the aberration of Vata Dosha affecting the Asthi (Bone) and Sandhi. Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. Its high prevalence especially in the elderly and its negative impact on physical function make it a leading cause of disability in the elderly. Osteoarthritis commonly known as wearandtear arthritis. It is a condition in which the natural cushioning between jointsi.e.cartilage wears away. When this happens, the bones of the joints rub more closely to one another with less of the shock-absorbing benefits of cartilage. The rubbing result in pain, swelling, stiffness, decreased ability to move and sometimes the formation of bone spurs.
Two groups with each group has 30 patients.
Group A -To use Jalauka for Blood Letting once in a week for 3 weeks
Group B - To use Janu Basti once in a day for 3 weeks
