Intervention  Empowerment program  Empowerment program includes cognitive and Psychological Component. Cognitive Component will include discussion about Kidney disease and Dialysis with a Hemodialysis guide. Psychological component will include Integrative Counselling for both patients and their caregivers. For patients weekly 2 sessions for 3 weeks, for care givers weekly one session for 3 weeks.

Brief Summary  

Present Study titled Lived Experience of patients of Patients undergoing Hemodialysis and effect of Empowerment program on Quality of Life, Adherence, Clinical Outcomes of patients and Care giver Burden uses a mixed method approach.

Objectives

  • Explore the lived experiences of patients undergoing Dialysis
  • Evaluate the effect of Empowerment program on Quality of Life, Adherence, Clinical outcomes of patients and Care giver burden
  • Correlate the Quality of Life, Adherence, Clinical outcomes of patients and Care giver burden before and after Empowerment  program

Qualitative aspect of Quality of Life will be explored using Phenomenological Approach. Quantitative aspect will be  will evaluate the effect of an empowerment program on Quality of Life, Adherence, Clinical outcomes of patients and Caregiver burden.100 patients and their caregivers will be involved in the study. Pre assessment will be done on day 0, Experimental Group will receive a 6 sessions of Empowerment program and post assessment will be done at 4 and 12 weeks post intervention. Control group will receive routine standard care

Conclusion

Identifying and exploring the  patient needs and potential caregiver in the family of patient and established empowerment programs to prepare them for the task to be carried out, mainly in the initial phase of their activities will enhance the Quality of Life of Patients undergoing Hemodialysis
