Brief Summary

Fissure in ano which is described as Parikartika in Ayurveda, is a very common and the most painful condition occurring in Ano-rectal region in day-to-day life. Incidence is around 1 in 350 adults and most often occur in adults aged 15-40 years. Parikartika is characterized with Kartanavat Shoola, Daha and Anilasanga in the region of Guda, Nabhi, and Medra along with Aruchi. Importance is laid because of its higher recurrence rates.

Parikartika has reference in all the Brihatrayees not as a separate entity, but as a complication of improper administration of treatmemt procedures like Virechana, Bastikarma Vyapad and as a complication of diseases like Atisara, Grahani and Udavarta caused by vitiation of Vata & Pitta.

Chikitsa for Parikartika mentioned by Charaka are Pichu with Sarpi and Pichha Basti. Keeping this point of view, the present study focuses on evaluating the comparative effectiveness of Doorvadi Ghrita and Shatadhauta Ghrita in Parikartika to reduce pain, bleeding, burning sensation, sphincter spasm and promotes ulcer healing. Shatadhauta Ghrita and Doorvadi Ghrita are selected as they are having effective Vrana Ropana and Vrana Shodhana properties.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effectiveness Of Doorvadi Ghrita Guda Pichu with Shatadhauta Ghrita Guda Pichu in the Management of Parikartika (Fissure in Ano).

METHODOLOGY: Interventional clinical study

Sample size: 40

Groups: 2; 20 subjects in each group

Group A- Taken as Standard group for Guda Pichu of Doorvadi Ghrita.

Group B- Taken as Trial group for Guda Pichu of Shatadhauta Ghrita.
