Brief Summary   We conducted a prospective double blinded randomized control
study in 60 patients of both sexes, aged > than 60 years,
belonging to ASA I, II & III undergoing  fracture femur surgeries in
Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner (Rajasthan). Approval
from Institutional Ethical Committee and valid written informed
consent from patients was taken before starting the
study. Our aim was to check the efficacy and safety of ultrasound guided femoral nerve block  its onset, duration and
quality of sensory & motor block.
Patients were divided into 2 groups of 30 each using
randomization. Group A received intrathecal
Inj.0.5% heavy bupivacaine with Fentanyl 0.25 ug into subarachnoid space whereas Group
B received femoral nerve block along with spinal anaesthesia.
After the procedure, onset, peak block and quality of patient positioning for spinal anaesthesia was checked. Along with
this MAP and Heart rate were also observed and
noted in both the groups. Postoperative analgesia in terms of VAS score, time to first dose rescure and patient satisfaction score is measured. 
Conclusion :  the femoral  nerve bock have found to provide better post operative analgesia and better patient positioning for spinal anaesthesia compared to standard management.
