Brief Summary
Modification(s)

This study was randomized clinical trial to evaluate and compare the effects of different varieties of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera Dunal) in Grivastambha. Total 28 patients were enrolled in 4 groups on the basis of computer-generated randomisation. From those, 24 patients had completed study. In this study powder of four varieties of Ashwagandha was applied with lukewarm water on affected part as a Lepa following Katu Taila Abhyanga twice in a day for 14 days. All four varieties of Ashwagandha showed statistically significant difference in various symptoms after treatment. Any ADR was not observed. Highest overall effect of therapy (68.67%) was achieved through Gujarat Anand Ashwagandha-1, while lowest in Nagori Ashwagandha (42.26%). Though, any statistically significant difference was not found among all four varieties of Ashwagandha. Thus, primary outcome that Ashwagandha is effective on Grivastambha was achieved. Along with that secondary outcome was also achieved as difference in clinical efficacy of all four varieties of Ashwagandha on Grivastambha.
