Brief Summary
|
This study is a comparative cross-sectional study which will assess the prevalence, risk factors, and components of Metabolic syndrome among different age groups and genders of diabetic patients. This study will be conducted at All India institute of medical sciences, Mangalagiri. Ageing is an important factor that affects the metabolic abnormalities leading to an increase in the prevalence of Metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is more prevalent in female diabetic patients with risk factors & common core components different from male patients. FINDINGS AND APPLICATION Knowledge of the risk factors for metabolic syndrome may be utilized in interventions which favourably alter its prevalence. Knowing the common components of metabolic syndrome and their regular screening will guide in management, minimizing the risk of development of complications. Age-specific and Gender-specific management strategies for metabolic syndrome can be adopted. |
