Brief Summary
Modification(s)
|
THE PRESENT RESEARCH WORK WAS PERFORMED TO FIND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF AYURVEDIC MANAGMENT IN PATIENT OF JANU SANDHIGATA VATA (OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE JOINT). SANDHIGATAVATA IS ONE OF THE MAJOR CAUSES OF CHRONIC DISABILITY AND AFFECTING THE QUALITY OF LIFE. BOTH AYURVEDA AND MODERN HAVE TYPICAL CLINICAL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS PAIN, STIFFNESS AND INFLAMMATION. TRAYODASANGA GUGGULU AND YOGARAJA GUGGULU BOTH ARE THE ORAL MEDICAMENTS MENTIONED IN MOST AYURVEDIC CLASSIC FOR TREATMENT OF SANDHIGATAVATA. MAIN AIM OF THIS STUDY WAS TO FIND OUT THE DIFFERENCE IN EFFECT OF BOTH THE GROUP WITH THE HELP OF CHANGES OBTAINED IN SIGN AND SYMPTOMS OF SANDHIGATAVATA AS WELL AS WOMAC SCALE, VAS SCALE AND X-RAY. STUDY SHOWED THAT ELDERLY PERSON, OBESE AND PREDOMIENATELY FEMALE WERE MORE PRONE TO OSTEOARTHRITIS. THE ULTIMATE RESULT FOR OA PATIENTS WERE REDUCTION IN SCORE OF WOMAC SCALE, VAS SCALE AND X RAY SCORE. THERE WAS IMPROVEMENT IN THERE DAY TO DAY ACTIVITY. THERE WAS STASTISTICALLY HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT RESULT FOUND IN BOTH GROUP WITH PAIRED AND UNPAIRED T TEST. BOTH MEDICAMENTS WERE VERY EFFECTIVE ON SANDHIGATAVATA BUT IT WAS OBSERVED THAT TRAYODASANGA GUGGULU WAS MORE EFFECTIVE FOR SULA(PAIN). ACCORDING TO X RAY FINDING PATIENTS OF 3 OR 4 GRADES DID NOT GET MUCH RESULTS BUT IN PATIENTS WITH 1 AND 2 GRADES GOT MORE SATISFACTORY RELIEF IN PAIN AND SYMPTOMS. IT SUGGESTS THAT PATIENT WITH LOW GRADES HAVE HIGHER CHANCE OF PROGNOSIS.
