Brief Summary
|
Introduction: The concept of Prakruti is a unique
contribution of Ayurveda. Ayurveda lays great emphasis on
the examination of Prakruti which
is the natural state of an individual. This is very important because only by
understanding the original state of the body function one can understand the
possible derangement in the functioning. The primary aim of Ayurveda is also to maintain
health in healthy person and hence knowledge of Prakruti is imperative. It
is the enumerations of body features internal as well as
external. Intelligence is the aggregate or global capacity of the individual
to act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal effectively with his
environment (Wechsler, 1944, p.3). A universally accepted uniform
definition of intelligence has yet not evolved by the psychologists. The intelligence quotient is the ratio of individuals’
mental age to his or her chronological age. An individual’s I.Q. indicates the
rate of mental development or the degree of brightness. If the mental
development keeps pace with one’s life age, the quotient is 100.
Problem Statement: As individuals of different Prakruti are described to have
different prototypes of Jnana,
they are expected to have different intelligence and
vice-versa. Intellectual errors (Prajnaparadha)
lead to causation of all diseases. By avoiding intellectual
errors one can be free from onslaught of diseases. Longevity
without intelligence is a burden not only for a humanbeing but also
to the society. Assessment of intelligence and its promotion thus becomes a
need of the era. Considering all these points, this study is a proposal to
be conducted on healthy volunteers of different DehaPrakruti to observe the influence of Prakruti on Intelligence
Quotient and its comparison among them.
Objective: To assess the interrelationship between Intelligence
Quotient and Dosha Pradhana Deha
Prakruti in apparently healthy individuals.
Hypothesis:
Alternate Hypothesis: There is a relation between Intelligence
Quotient and Deha Prakruti.
Null Hypothesis: There
is no relation between Intelligence Quotient and Deha Prakruti.
Assessment Criteria:
Deha Prakruti Assessment: Dr.Kishore
Patwardhan’s Standard Prakruti Assessment
Questionnaire Format will be used without any modification.
Intelligence Quotient Assessment: Wechsler’s Adult Intelligence Scale will be adopted
without any modification for the assessment of Intelligence Quotient.
