Intervention  group A (Experimental group)   Self MFR was being given during pre and post plyometric training which involves applying sustained pressure on to Myofascial tissue restrictions. Subjects were asked to place hamstrings on the foam roller with hips unsupported. In which Legs were kept straight and asked to roll where the foam roller should slide from knee to hip while keeping quadriceps tightened. Procedure was repeated for 1-2 min on each side. Athletes were asked to keep the abdominal muscles tight to provide stability.
Comparator Agent  group B(control group)  • SBLR was being given during Pre and post plyometric training on second group of runners. Self BLR was taught to runners, in which the athlete places his one leg on the chair and other leg was flexed by 5-100 in which the athletes bends diagonally over the previous leg to get stretch on hamstring. And three repetitions of this technique for 30 sec hold were performed.

Brief Summary

Purpose:

Purpose of this study was to examine the effect of hamstring flexibility and its parameter after self MFR and self BLR stretching on pre and post plyometric training session in beginner runners.

Design:

 An Experimental study

Objectives:

To evaluate the effect of self MFR and self BLR stretching with plyometric training, on hamstring stiffness, endurance, strength and agility.

Method:

Sixty- four subjects aged between (18-25) were included in this study. Athletes were selected on the basis of inclusion criteria and they were divided randomly in to two groups, the Experimental group received self MFR for 6 weeks, per week three sessions along with plyometric training. And the Control group received self BLR for 6 weeks, per week 3 sessions. The outcome measures were rate of perceived exertion scale, Active knee extension test, agility T test, leg press test.

Result:

Paired t test and unpaired t test was used to analyse the data. It was found that there was no significant difference between pre and post hamstring stiffness, endurance, agility and strength in group A and group B. but group A was found more significant than group B.

Conclusion:

This study concluded that self Myofascial Release technique with plyometric training is better than self-Bent Leg Raise technique with plyometric training in beginner runners

Key words:

MFR, BLR, Plyometric training, Hamstring stiffness, Agility, Strength, Endurance.
