Core–Cognitive Dual-Task Training (CCDT) |
Group A (Core–Cognitive Dual-Task Training, CCDT) will receive McGill core stabilization exercises (Forearm Plank, Side Plank – left and right, and Modified Biering–Sørensen hold) combined with simultaneous cognitive dual-task activities (auditory recall tasks, verbal cue responses, and visual Stroop-based stimulus discrimination). Cognitive task complexity and exercise duration will be progressively increased weekly. Each session will last 45–60 minutes, conducted three times per week on alternate days for 4 weeks (total 12 sessions). Exercises will begin with 2 sets of 30–40 seconds and progress to 3 sets of 50–60 seconds as tolerated. |

McGill Core Exercise |
Group B (Conventional Core Training) will receive the same McGill core exercises without any cognitive dual-task component, following identical duration, frequency, and progression parameters (45–60 minutes per session, 3 sessions/week for 4 weeks). All sessions will be supervised by a qualified physiotherapist to ensure proper technique and adherence to protocol. |

1. Participant should be willing to participate, with written informed consent/assent form and comply with all testing and recording procedures.
2. Male and female competitive karate athletes aged 15-35years specializing in the kata discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of continuous kata training and competition.
3. Active participation in at least two kata competitions.
4. Ability to perform a complete standardized kata sequence appropriate to their training level.

1. Athletes currently suffering from any acute or chronic musculoskeletal injury within the past 6 months.
2. History of neurological, vestibular, or balance disorders that could affect postural control or movement performance in the past 6 months.
3. Presence of any cardiovascular or respiratory condition contraindicating moderate to vigorous physical activity.
4. Visual or auditory impairments not correctable to normal limits.

Brief Summary
|
This randomized clinical trial aims to compare the effects of McGill core exercises combined with dual-task training versus McGill core exercises alone on performance outcomes in elite karate kata athletes aged 15–35 years. Core stability and cognitive-motor integration are essential components of karate performance; however, conventional core training does not address the cognitive demands encountered during competition. Thirty-four eligible athletes will be randomly allocated into two groups: Group A will receive core–cognitive dual-task training, and Group B will receive conventional core strengthening exercises. The intervention will be conducted for four weeks, three sessions per week. Outcome measures including core endurance (McGill Trunk Endurance Tests), dynamic balance (Star Excursion Balance Test), movement quality (Modified Karate Movement Quality Scoring Sheet), and dual-task performance (auditory and visual tasks with dual-task cost analysis) will be assessed at baseline and after four weeks. The study aims to determine whether integrating cognitive tasks with core training provides additional benefits over conventional core strengthening in improving physical and executive performance outcomes in elite karate kata athletes. |
