Patients of 18-35 years of age.
Patients with no history of maxillofacial surgery.
Patients with no developmental anomalies or any systemic disease affecting bone and general health.
Mentally sound patients.

Whorls were most likely to be found on digit IV of both groups (Vertical Growth Pattern & Horizontal Growth Pattern) of both hands.

Brief Summary  

The fingerprint is unique for a specific individual as epidermal ridges are genetically determined, and their pattern remains constant throughout life. Hence, it aids in the diagnosis of hereditary disorders as well as the identification of an individual.

With the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that makes the analysis of big data possible, which provides reliable information and improves the decision-making process. It is believed that an innovative inter-professional coordination amongst clinicians, researchers, and engineers will be the key to AI development in the field of dentistry.

Any abnormality in the genome may reflect in these dermal ridge derivatives and in turn may aid as a diagnostic adjunct for malocclusions very early in life and help in preventive measures to alleviate imminent dentoskeletal aberrations which have been one of the main goals of orthodontic treatment for many years.

Dermatoglyphic pattern can be easily visualized and their ease and inexpensiveness to record them can act as a major factor in mass screening tests.

Combining digital technologies for their recording can increase its reliability as a screening tool.
