Comparator Agent  Regular Strength and Conditioning training  Players in the control group will be undergoing their regular strength and conditioning training which include upper body, lower body and core strengthening exercises 3 times a week.  
Intervention  Upper body plyometric training  Protocol consists of six medicine exercises which are: Two handed overhead soccer throw using a 2-kg medicine ball, Two handed chest pass using a 3-kg medicine ball, Two handed side throw using a 3-kg medicine ball, One handed baseball throw with the use of 1 kg medicine ball, 90/90 external rotation side throw using a 1-kg medicine ball, Deceleration baseball throw with the use of 1-kg medicine ball. Volume (sets×reps) for the six weeks will be: 3×10 (for 1-2 wk) 3×15 (for 3-4 wk) 3×20 (for 5-6 wk) These exercises will be performed 3 times a week for 6 weeks.

2. Players who were not engaged in any plyometric training program in the last 3 months.
3. Players free from any upper limb pain, injury, or neurological symptoms in the last 6 months
 
 
ExclusionCriteria 
Details  1. Players currently engaged in any other strength training or specialized athletic training programs targeting the upper body.
2. Players unable to commit to the training schedule or at risk due to academic, personal, or other sports commitments.
3. Players with any current musculoskeletal injuries, pain, or medical conditions affecting the upper body.

Cricket requires repetitive overhead movements in bowling, batting and fielding which demands sufficient upper body balance, strength and explosive power. In adolescent cricketers, the development of these parameters is important for improving performance and reducing the risk of injury. This research examined the effect of a 6 week upper body plyometric training program on upper body balance, strength and explosive power in adolescent cricket players.

A parallel group active controlled trial was performed on 40 adolescent cricketers aged 10-19 years. They were randomly divided into two groups: plyometric group(n=20) and a control group(n=20). The plyometric group underwent upper body plyometric training 3 times a week for 6 weeks while the control group continued their regular practice. Outcome measures used were: Upper Quarter Y Balance Test, Seated Medicine Ball Throw Test, Backward Overhead Medicine Ball Throw Test and Closed Kinetic Chain Upper Extremity Stability Test.

The findings showed that the plyometric group had significant improvement in upper body balance, strength and explosive power compared to the control group. This can be due to improved neuromuscular activation, motor unit recruitment and efficiency of the stretch-shortening cycle. The control group also showed some improvements due to regular practice, the degree of improvement was higher in the plyometric group. The results indicate that the inclusion of upper body plyometric training in the regular cricket practice can be effective in improving physical performance in adolescent cricketers.
