| Intervention |
Microdebrider assisted turbinoplasty |
Microdebrider-assisted inferior turbinoplasty will be performed under local or general anesthesia. After nasal decongestion and submucosal infiltration with lignocaine and adrenaline, an anterior mucosal incision is made on the inferior turbinate. A Microdebrider is used for 10mints to remove hypertrophied submucosal tissue ± bone under endoscopic guidance , preserving the mucosa. Hemostasis is achieved with adrenaline pledgets or minimal cautery. Nasal packing is done only if required, followed by standard postoperative care. |
| Comparator Agent |
Sub mucosal diathermy turbinoplasty |
Submucosal diathermy of the inferior turbinate will be performed under local or general anesthesia. After nasal decongestion and lignocaine–adrenaline infiltration, a diathermy needle is inserted submucosally and controlled cauterization is applied along the turbinate for 5 minutes to reduce hypertrophied tissue while preserving mucosa. Nasal packing is done only if required, followed by routine postoperative care. |

Brief Summary
|
Inferior turbinate hypertrophy is a common cause of chronic nasal obstruction when medical management fails. Various surgical techniques are available for turbinate reduction, of which microdebrider-assisted turbinoplasty and submucosal diathermy turbinoplasty are commonly performed. This randomized controlled trial aims to compare the surgical outcomes of these two techniques in terms of improvement in nasal symptoms and postoperative complications. Eligible patients will be randomized into two groups and followed up at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively using validated symptom scores. The results of this study may help guide the selection of an effective and safe surgical technique for inferior turbinate hypertrophy.
