Brief Summary
|
This is Randomized clinical trial
Mechanical neck pain is a common condition
that causes pain, stiffness, and difficulty in neck movements, often due to
tightness of neck and shoulder muscles, especially the upper trapezius muscle.
This problem can affect daily activities and quality of life.
Subject will be included according to
inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria includes Age between 20
to 55, Both genders male and female, clinically diagnosed with neck pain,
Trapezius tightness (unilateral), Neck pain duration: subacute and chronic. Exclusion
criteria includes Cervical radiculopathy secondary to disc herniation,
neck and back deformities like torticollis or scoliosis, history of trauma or fracture,
Surgery in the neck or upper back, or shoulder, Neck pain with back pain, Acute
Neck spasm
Two commonly used physiotherapy techniques
are Active Release Technique (ART), which involves manual pressure and movement
to release tight muscles, and dynamic stretching, which uses controlled active
movements to improve flexibility and movement.
The purpose of this study is to compare the
effectiveness of Active Release Technique and dynamic stretching in reducing
pain, improving neck movement, and decreasing neck-related disability in
patients with mechanical neck pain.
A total of 44 participants with mechanical
neck pain will be randomly divided into two groups. One group will receive
Active Release Technique along with conventional physiotherapy, while the other
group will receive dynamic stretching along with conventional physiotherapy.
Treatment will be given on alternate days for two weeks.
Primary outcomes include visual analogue
scale (VAS), Cervical Range of motion and Neck disability index will be
assessed before and after treatment. The results of this study may help
physiotherapists choose the most effective treatment approach for patients with
mechanical neck pain. |
