Brief Summary
|
This study is a comparative study comparing the effectiveness of MIME Therapy vs Motor Imagery technique in 40 patients diagnosed with acute Bells Palsy that will be conducted in a single center in India. The primary outcome measure will be unilateral facial function measured using Sunnybrook Facial Grading System at 3 weeks. There will be 20 participants in each group. Each participant will be provided 30 minutes of intervention according to the group allocated, 5 days/week for 3 weeks. Along with this, each participant will receive electrical muscle stimulation. Group A - MIME Therapy In front of a mirror to provide visual feedback Self massage, Stretching Exercises, Specific Low Intensity Exercises, Articulations, Expression Exercises Group B - Motor Imagery Visualisation exercises such as the following - Lift and frown your eyebrows, Open and close your eyes, Wrinkle your nostrils, Perform an inverted smile, Drink water using a straw, Move your lips side to side, Pout your lips, Smile with an open and closed mouth, Blow air from your mouth, Chew as if eating something Baseline treatment - Electrical stimulation given to both groups
