Intervention  MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION PROGRAMME  This study is a single-arm, non-randomised interventional study employing a pre-test and post-test design with a mixed-method approach. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme on perceived stress, anxiety, and stressors among nursing officers in selected hospitals of Bangalore, and to explore post-intervention satisfaction. Eligible nursing officers will undergo an eight-week structured MBSR programme delivered through weekly group sessions. Quantitative data will be collected using standardized and validated tools to measure perceived stress, anxiety, and stressors at baseline and immediately after completion of the intervention. Qualitative data will be collected post-intervention to explore participants’ satisfaction and experiences with the programme. The study is expected to provide evidence on the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions as a supportive strategy for stress reduction and mental well-being among nursing professionals. Duration of the study: The total sample size of the study is 120. 120 participants are divided into 6 groups each 20 in a batch. The total duration for the completion of the study is 12 months. Each batch will undergo training of the MBSR programme for 8 weeks.

Brief Summary

Occupational stress and anxiety are highly prevalent among nursing officers and may adversely affect psychological well-being and professional performance. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is an evidence-based intervention focusing on mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and stress coping strategies.

This mixed-method study aims to assess the effectiveness of an 8-week MBSR programme on reducing perceived stress, anxiety, and identified stressors among 120 nursing officers in selected hospitals. Quantitative measures will be used to assess pre- and post-intervention outcomes, and qualitative feedback will explore participant satisfaction and experience. The results may contribute to evidence supporting mindfulness-based interventions for occupational stress management in healthcare settings.
