Intervention / Comparator Agent
Type  Name  Details
Intervention  Assessment of Deep Cervical Flexor Function and Reaction Time  Participants diagnosed with cervicogenic headache (18–30 years) will undergo assessment of deep cervical flexor muscle function using the Craniocervical Flexion Test with a pressure biofeedback unit. Visual reaction time will be assessed using a Simple Visual Reaction Time Test (Ruler Drop Test). No therapeutic intervention will be administered. This is an observational cross-sectional assessment study.

Inclusion Criteria
Age From  18.00 Year(s)
Age To  30.00 Year(s)
Gender  Both
Details  Adults aged 18–30 years. Clinically diagnosed with cervicogenic headache according to ICHD-3 criteria. Positive flexion-rotation test confirming upper cervical involvement. Ability to perform the craniocervical flexion test and ruler drop test. Both male and female participants.

ExclusionCriteria
Details  Participants will be excluded if they have a history of traumatic brain injury or recent head/neck trauma within the past six months, neurological disorders affecting reaction time (such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis), previous cervical spine surgery, or migraine or tension-type headache as the primary diagnosis. Individuals with severe musculoskeletal conditions of the neck or upper limb (e.g., fractures or severe arthritis), visual or hearing impairments interfering with reaction time testing, and pregnant individuals will also be excluded to avoid confounding factors that may influence neuromuscular control and reaction time outcomes.

Brief Summary

Cervicogenic headache is a secondary headache arising from cervical spine dysfunction and is commonly associated with impaired deep cervical flexor muscle performance and altered neuromuscular control. Deep cervical flexor dysfunction may influence sensorimotor integration and response time; however, the relationship between deep cervical flexor dysfunction and reaction time in patients with cervicogenic headache has not been adequately explored.

The present cross sectional observational study aims to evaluate the association between deep cervical flexor dysfunction and reaction time in patients diagnosed with cervicogenic headache. Deep cervical flexor function will be assessed using the craniocervical flexion test and endurance measurement. Reaction time will be measured using a standardized simple visual reaction time assessment. A total of fifty five participants will be recruited from physiotherapy outpatient services in India. Correlation analysis will be performed to determine the association between variables. The findings may provide insight into neuromuscular impairments associated with cervicogenic headache and assist in developing targeted rehabilitation strategies.
