Generative AI Based Learning Using NotebookLM
|
Participants will receive training on the use of NotebookLM, a generative AI tool. They will be instructed to use the tool for at least 15 minutes daily for a period of 3 months. The intervention includes uploading study material to generate structured notes, creating audio summaries, and analyzing question papers to enhance deep learning approaches. |
| Comparator Agent |
Waitlist Control Group |
Participants will continue their usual study methods without exposure to the generative AI tool for the initial 3 months. After completion of the first phase assessment, they will receive access to the same intervention. |

Brief Summary
|
This study is a parallel group randomized controlled trial designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a generative AI based intervention in improving deep learning approaches among undergraduate medical students in a medical college in Kerala. Participants will be randomized into intervention and waitlist control groups. The intervention group will use NotebookLM, a generative AI tool, for 15 minutes daily over a period of 3 months to enhance deep learning through study material generation, concept understanding, and question analysis. The control group will continue routine study practices during this period. Deep learning approach will be assessed using the Revised Two Factor Study Process Questionnaire at baseline and after 3 months. The study will also assess the association between deep learning scores and sleep duration. The total study duration will be 6 months. |
