Brief Summary   TITLE: Understanding the role of complete symptom with the reference of aphorism 86 in cases of acute tonsillitis of an age group of 5 to 15 years.

RESEARCH GAP: Less sources giving any information about individualized homoeopathic treatment or complete symptom. More research is needed to establish the efficacy of homoeopathy in treatment of tonsillitis.  Only give therapeutics not giving information about individualized homoeopathic treatment, without giving any reference of aphorism.

NEED FOR STUDY: 1) Insufficient Clinical Documentation on the "Complete Symptom".
2) Absence of Literature Validating the Clinical Utility of Aphorism 86.
3) Challenge in Eliciting Complete Symptoms in case taking.
4) In day-to-day practice, physicians sometimes do not follow the protocol suggested by Dr. Hahnemann in Aphorism 86.
5) Need for Further Evidence-Based Research.

RESEARCH QUESTION: What is the role of complete symptom (with reference of aphorism 86) in improving the clinical outcomes of acute tonsillitis cases of an age group of 5 to 15 years?

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY: 1) To apply aphorism principles of aphorism 86 in understanding and eliciting the complete symptom, and to utilize this concept effectively in case taking and remedy selection for acute tonsillitis.
 2) to develop an evidence-based case record based on the complete symptom as described by Hahnemann in aphorism 86.

METHODOLOGY:
Type of Study design - Prospective Analytical
Study Setting (Location of study) – 1) O.P.D & I.P.D of C. D. Pachchigar College of Homoeopathic Medicine & Hospital; Near Navjivan Circle, Udhana Magdalla Road, Surat. 395001. 2) Peripheral centre O.P.D. allotted by C.D. Pachchigar College of Homoeopathic Medicine & Hospital; Near Navjivan Circle, Udhana Magdalla Road, Surat. 395001
Duration of study: 9 MONTHS
Method of selection of study subjects (eligibility criteria):
    INCLUSION CRITERIA -
 a) Age range of 5 to 15 years.
 b) The primary clinical presentation is the basis for diagnostic criteria.
    EXCLUSION CRITERIA –
 a) Discontinuation of treatment in between the study.
 b) Cases with complication like chronic tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, parapharyngeal abscess, otitis media, rheumatic fever.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND DATA COLLECTION:
Sample size: 30 cases
Sampling technique: simple randomized for conceptual development
Method for data collection relevant to objectives: Patient attending at OPD, IPD and peripheral OPDs with complaint of acute tonsillitis (with considering inclusion and exclusion criteria)
Data management and analysis procedure: Case taking will be done according to guidelines mentioned by Dr. Hahnemann in Aphorisms 83-104 & College O.P.D standard case taking format. After proper analysis and evaluation of symptoms, totality of symptoms will be formed. Totality formation will be done as per the instructions given by Dr. Hahnemann in organon of medicine. Investigations for diagnosis of the disease will be done as per the requirement of the case. The remedy will be selected on the basis of totality of symptoms and either from reportorial or non-reportorial approach. The remedies will be used in various potency as per the requirement of the cases. Remedies will be administered as per guidelines given by Dr. Hahnemann in organon of medicine. The remedies will be repeated as per the requirement of the case. Homoeopathic remedies will be dispensed from C. D. Pachchigar College of Homoeopathic Medicine & Hospital; Near Navjivan Circle, Udhana Magdalla Road, Surat. 395001

Specification of instrument and related measurement: Brodsky Tonsil Grading Evaluation

Response will be analyzed in to 3 criteria-
1.Significance improvement – General improvement at all levels with the feeling of well-being both mentally and physically with disappearance of the presenting symptoms.
2. Moderate improvement - General senses of well-being with reduce in intensity and duration of presenting symptoms.
3. Status Quo – Patient did not get any relief in spite of giving medicine.
