Brief Summary
|
When every step feels like walking on needles it is more than simple foot pain it indicates Plantar Fasciitis In Ayurveda this condition is described as Vatkantaka The word Kantaka means thorn and in Vatkantaka the patient experiences thorn like pain in the heel It mainly occurs due to aggravation of Vata Dosha along with Kapha at the ankle and foot joint because of excessive walking on uneven surfaces improper foot placement or overexertion Common features include pain stiffness and swelling
In modern science Plantar Fasciitis also called Policemans Heel involves inflammation and microtears of the plantar fascia leading to severe heel pain especially during the first step in the morning or after rest which gradually reduces after limited walking Samanya Vishesh Siddhant explains that similar factors increase bodily elements while opposite factors reduce them and this principle guides treatment selection
Pain management is essential in such cases Agnikarma a para surgical procedure described by Acharya Sushruta provides rapid relief by pacifying aggravated Vata and Kapha Raktamokshana including leech therapy is also useful for reducing pain and improving local circulation Plantar fasciitis contributes to about eighty percent of plantar heel pain cases affecting nearly seven percent of the general population hence effective Ayurvedic management is needed |
