Brief Summary
Physiological factors such as age, height, weight, gender, and temperature influence nerve conduction studies (NCS). A previous study on ulnar nerve conduction velocity across different age groups indicated that age impacts both sensory and motor conduction velocity of the ulnar nerveviii . The conduction velocity is determined by factors like fibre diameter, degree of myelination, and internodal distance.
According to Acharya Vagbhata, different Dosha dominate at various stages of life: Vata in old age, Pitta in middle age, and Kapha in young age individualsix. In the present scenario, integrating modern techniques is essential for greater acceptance and validation of Ayurvedic principles at a global level. This study seeks to examine the relationship between specific Deha Prakriti types and the speed of nerve impulse conduction in individuals aged 40-60 years. Such an approach could provide valuable diagnostic insights for further research, diagnosis, and treatment. Therefore, the study is designed to explore the correlation between nerve conduction velocity in the ulnar nerve
and different Deha Prakriti types between the age group of 40-60 years
Null Hypothesis (HO)
There is no Correlation between Nerve Conduction Velocity of Ulnar Nerve and Deha Prakriti.
Alternate Hypothesis (H1)
There is a Correlation between Nerve Conduction Velocity of Ulnar Nerve and Deha Prakriti.
AIM
To study the correlation between Nerve Conduction Velocity of Ulnar Nerve and Deha Prakriti of apparently healthy individuals in age group of 40-60 years.
OBJECTIVES
Primary Objective: To find correlation of Nerve Conduction Velocity with different Deha Prakriti of apparently healthy individuals of 40-60 years age.
Secondary Objective: To assess the distribution of different Deha Prakriti amongst screened individuals.
