| Intervention |
Nadishodhana Pranayama |
Nadi shodhana pranayama was taught in a comfortable sitting posture with erect spine and relaxed shoulders, eyes gently closed and left hand resting on the knee in chin mudra. Using nasagra/mrigi mudra with the right hand, participants alternately occluded the nostrils with the thumb (right nostril) and ring–little finger (left nostril) to perform alternate nostril breathing. One round consisted of inhalation through the left nostril, exhalation through the right, inhalation through the right, and exhalation through the left, with slow, quiet, diaphragmatic breathing maintained throughout and continuous awareness of the breath. The practice was performed for about 10 minutes per session, once daily, without breath retention and within the comfortable capacity of the participant |
| Intervention |
Trataka Kriya |
For the trial, trataka kriya with a candle will be administered in a quiet, dimly lit room, with participants seated in a comfortable meditative posture and a lit candle placed at approximately arm’s length at eye level on a stable stand. After a brief settling period with eyes closed, participants will be instructed to gaze steadily at the brightest part of the candle flame without excessive blinking or strain until mild watering or a sense of eye fatigue is experienced. They will then gently close the eyes and observe the internal after-image of the flame in the frontal field of awareness for a short period, maintaining relaxed breathing and mental focus, before slowly opening the eyes to complete one cycle. The practice will be performed once daily for about 10–15 minutes (multiple brief cycles within this period), avoiding overexertion and with precautions in individuals with significant ocular or neurological contraindications. |
