Intervention  Mindful Breathing Practices  Mindful Breathing Practices Lesson1- Exercise 1 One of the first things we do in mindfulness-based stress reduction is to become aware of our breath which we often forget. You dont have to control your breath, just notice it. Observe, watch and feel the breath with a sense of interest in a relaxed manner. With practice you become more aware of your breathing, and in turn are able to use it to direct your awareness to different aspects of your life - for example to relax tense muscles, or focus on a situation that requires attention and/or help with pain, anger, relationships or the stress of daily life. It includes Settling, Focusing on sensation of breath, working with the mind when it wanders and Closing. Lesson 1 - Exercise 2 Three sessions of three-Minute Breathing with an interval of 30 seconds. The Breathing Space provides a way to step out of Automatic Pilot mode and reconnect with the present moment. Awareness- Bring the awareness into the present moment by bringing the attention inwards. Whatever is going on be with it, dont move away from it or want it to be different. Even though it often takes courage, train yourself to stay with it for a few moments. Breath- Now gently bring your awareness to your breathing, bring full attention to your breath, notice is it more shallow or deep. Being aware of each in-breath and each out-breath as they follow one after the other

Brief Summary

Psychological well-being of frontline healthcare workers is a significant global public health concern. Healthcare workers experience higher stress, which is a strong determining factor for poor work performance and quality of medical care. ‘Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs)’, who deliver primary care, face high levels of stress due to work demands and low compensation.

Mindful breathing is a basic meditation practice to focus one’s attention on breathing to its natural rhythm and flow and the way it feels on each inhale and exhale. Focusing on the breath is particularly helpful as it serves as an anchor – at times of stress or negative emotions.

Through this study we plan to assess the effect of Mindfulness Breathing practices on Work-related Stress, Depression and Anxiety among ASHA workers of Rural Jodhpur.

Research Question: Does mindfulness breathing practices help in reducing work-related stress, depression and anxiety among ASHAs?

Objective: To assess the effect of mindfulness breathing practices on work-related stress, depression and anxiety among ASHAs of Rural Jodhpur.

PICOT

Intervention group: 150 ASHAs

Comparison: Single group Pre and Post intervention
