Details |
| Intervention |
Deep Transverse Friction Massage, Static Stretching. |
Deep Transverse Friction Massage is friction massage given for 20 minutes at the site of lesion transverse manner to the muscle fibre, Static Stretching is passive holding of the body part when stretch is felt over muscle for 3sets of 30seconds stretch followed by 20seconds relaxation in each set. |
| Comparator Agent |
Hamstring Muscle Flexibility, Walking Speed, Functional Status |
Hamstring Muscle Flexibility assessed with Active Knee Extension Test, Walking Speed assessed with Walking speed test, Functional Status assessed with Lower Extremity Functional Status. |
| Intervention |
Myofascial Release, Dynamic Stretching |
Myofascial Release is pulling up a line of tension to soften the soft tissue restriction, it is given for 3 minutes. Dynamic stretching is done by patient himself in standing position and doing hip flexion with knee in extension, The patient performs 10 sets in total. Each set comprises 15 repetitions of the 2-second stretch, lasting 30 seconds. Between sets, a 20-second rest period. The total duration of the dynamic stretching intervention will be 10 minutes. |

Brief Summary
|
A minimum of 60 subjects will be selected as per
inclusion and exclusion criteria between 18-35 years of age. Both male and
female adults participants will be selected in the study. Subjects will be conveniently
divided into 3 groups with minimum of 20 subjects in each group. Group
A (Control group) will receive Hot Pack (20 minutes) and Continuous Ultrasound
Therapy (Frequency-1MHz, Intensity-1.5W/cm2 for 7 minutes) which
will serve as ‘baseline treatment’. Group B (Experimental group I) will receive
Deep Transverse Friction Massage (20 minutes) combined with Static Stretch
(3sets of 30seconds stretch followed by 20seconds relaxation in each set) along
with baseline treatment and Group C (Experimental group II) will receive Myofascial
Release (3 minutes) combined with Dynamic Stretching (10 sets, 2 seconds
stretch in 15 repetitions, 30 seconds stretch followed by 20 seconds relax in
each set) along with baseline treatment. Total 12 treatment sessions (6
sessions/week) will be given in all groups respectively. The baseline data will be recorded on 1st session
(pre-intervention) ,5th session (post-intervention) and on 12th
session (post-intervention). Outcome measures included in the study will be Active
Knee Extension Test (AKET) for flexibility, Walking Speed Test (M-Walking speed
& C-Walking speed) for walking speed, Lower Extremity Functional Status
(LEFS) for Functional Status. |
