Brief Summary
|
Eye–hand coordination refers to the ability to integrate visual input with coordinated hand movements during tasks such as reaching, grasping, pointing, and tracking. This coordination is essential for efficient performance of everyday activities. Aging affects goal-directed movements, leading to slower initial impulses and increased reliance on corrective actions, along with changes in upper-limb kinematics and eye–hand synchronization. Continuous and discrete movement patterns also influence coordination strategies. Metronome-based tasks provide a controlled method to study timing, movement continuity, and synchronization. Such approaches have been shown to improve motor performance, making them useful for assessing eye–hand coordination in the elderly population. |
