INTRODUCTION
Tonsils are believed to play protective role in early life
by providing host resistance against infections, there by maintaining integrity
of organism. Therefore cutting away tonsils will hamper natural defensive
process provided by nature to the child. In homoeopathy we believe to restore
the health of a person with protecting his bodys own tissues and structures.
Treating tonsillitis with internally prescribed medicines will not only
relieves symptoms of patients but also gives him and her internal relief with
gentle cure. In this way we can also prevent the further progression of
tonsillitis in need of surgical procedure like tonsillectomy.
Epidemiology –Tonsillitis is a common condition
among children worldwide including in India. While specific statistics for
India can vary, studies suggest that tonsillitis affects about 10-30 Percent of
children at some point in their childhood. The condition is most prevalent in
children between the ages of 5 and 15. Sore throat has an annual incidence of
100 in 1000 with tonsillitis accounting for approximately 32 in 1000 patients
per year.
Tonsillitis an inflammation of the tonsils caused primarily
by viral or bacterial infections is a common ailment that affects individuals
of all age groups, particularly in children. In the Indian context tonsillitis
is a frequently encountered condition with its prevalence influenced
by climatic variations population density hygiene practices and
socioeconomic factors.
Tonsils are two oval shaped tissue pads located at the
back of the throat, one on each side. They serve as the body’s first line of
Defense against bacteria and viruses that enter the mouth making them
susceptible to infection and inflammation. As a child gets Older however the
likelihood of infection decreases as well.
The most common symptoms of tonsillitis are pain and
soreness on swallowing fever chills malaise headache and a general
feeling of discomfort.
A repertory is an index where information is stored or
classified or is arranged systematically so that it can used more adventurously
to reach similimum in short time.[5] repertory aid or help to find correct
group of indicated homeopathic remedy, choice of proper similimum is still
based on homoeopathic material medica.
An urgent and constant need was strongly felt by the
professionals for a repertory which could meet the pace of development of
modern pathology and internal medicine. This need was fairly and squarely met
by the emergence of Homoeopathic Medical Repertory authored
by Dr. Robin Murphy.
This repertory can be used for all types of cases.
The chapters on mind generals food mind perspiration
constitution dreams delusion etc. Helps us to go through more classical
generals to particulars whereas chapters like disease emergency
children toxicity blood etc. contains plenty of clinical rubrics.
Murphys concept of totality is based on clinical as well as
classical homoeopathic practice. It embraces principles of Kents generals
Boenninghausens complete symptoms Bogers pathological generals and other
stalwarts clinical principles of prescribing.
While Robin Murphy Repertory is widely used in homoeopathic
practice few studies have evaluated its effectiveness as a standalone tool in
acute clinical condition.
This study bridges the gap by assessing the
utility of Repertory by Robin Murphy in the management of Acute tonsilitis.
Thus will provide the clinical evidence for its effectiveness in adults.
Hence this study Is undertaken to understand Homoeopathic
Medical Repertory by Dr. Robin Murphy in the Management of Acute Tonsilitis.
OBJECTIVES

Robin Murphy In The Management Of Acute Tonsilitis Among Adults.

Repertory By Robin Murphy In The Management Of Acute Tonsilitis Among Adults.

Treatment For Acute Tonsillitis On Brodsky Grading Scale.
3To Compare The Patient Pre-Treatment And Post
Treatment For Acute Tonsillitis On VAS Scale.
Operational Definition
Acute tonsilitis [ICD 11 MMS as Diagnosis code CA03.]
An Acute inflammation of tonsils typically caused by
viral or bacterial infections and characterized by symptoms like sore throat
fever and enlarged tonsils.
REPERTORY
Repertory is a systematically and logically arranged index
to the homoeopathic Materia medica which is full of information collected from
toxicology drug proving and clinical experience. The repertory helps
us to find out the required symptoms, together with the medicine or group of
medicines having different grades. It is connecting link between Materia medica
and diseases.
Rubric –It is the repertorial language in which a big
sentence is expressed by few words with proper arrangement followed by comma.
The word rubric originated from a Latin word Rubrica which means a heading or a
guiding rule. A rubric is a repertorial language of representing a symptom and
clinical terms.
