Brief Summary
|
Cricket is a team event that demands the players to assume different activities like throwing, bowling and batting, bowling, fielding, batting, and wicket-keeping in the same game. Bowlers benefit from upper body and leg strength to enhance their deliveries. Leg strength is crucial for running, striding, sprinting, making rapid turns, and jumping . Improvements in strength gains have been observed following alterations in various dosage parameters of resistance training. The frequency, duration, volume, follow-up period, order of exercises, and duration of rest have been regarded as the most important dosage variables used in resistance training. Plyometric training has also gained popularity in recent years in enhancing athletes’ strength and power output . Considering the isolated effectiveness of heavy and light resistance plyometric training for enhancing performance, a ‘complex training’ routine was devised by combining the aforementioned training forms. Complex training starts with a high load of resistance training that is succeeded by plyometric training. This combination aims at improving the efficacy of the plyometric training stimulus, thus increasing the neuromuscular response, explosive strength, and power.
Aim: To study the effects of a 6-weeks of complex training on linear speed, lower limb explosive power and bowling velocity in male club level cricket fast bowlers aged 18-30 years.
Objectives: 1. To determine the effect of a 6-week complex training program on bowling velocity in male club-level fast bowlers. 2. To assess the effect of a 6-week complex training program on linear speed in male club-level fast bowlers. 3. To evaluate the effect of a 6-week complex training program on lower limb explosive power in male club-level fast bowlers.
Materials and Methodology: This interventional study will be conducted for six weeks. Thirty-five male club-level fast bowlers aged 18-30 years will be recruited. After baseline assessment, participants will undergo a six-week Complex Training, performed thrice weekly under supervision. The intervention emphasizes progressive load and correct technique. Outcome measures- linear speed, lower limb explosive power and bowling velocity- will be recorded before and after training. Data will be statistically analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the program in 6 weeks. |
