Preoperative Baseline Parameters |
Pre-operative baseline values of the same eye including type and degree of corneal astigmatism, uncorrected and best-corrected visual acuity, and pterygium size/grade. These will serve as comparator against post-operative values at Day 1, Day 15, and Day 30. |
| Intervention |
Simultaneous Pterygium Excision with Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) |
All eligible patients with visually significant cataract and grade 1–2 nasal pterygium will undergo small incision cataract surgery (SICS) with intraocular lens implantation combined with pterygium excision under peribulbar anaesthesia.Duration of intervention is single day surgical procedure,30 to 45 minutes per patient and total duration per participant, including follow up is 30 days.Values will be taken on following days- Baseline that is pre operative, post operative day 1, post operative day 15 and post operative day 30. |

Brief Summary
|
Prospective comparative study to evaluate outcomes of simultaneous pterygium excision with small incision cataract surgery (SICS). Eighty-eight patients with visually significant cataract and grade 1–2 pterygium will be included. Preoperative evaluation: visual acuity, refraction, keratometry, axial length, intraocular pressure. Surgery: SICS with pterygium excision under peribulbar anesthesia. Follow-up: Day 1, Day 15, Day 30. Primary outcome: change in type and degree of corneal astigmatism. Secondary outcomes: correlation of pterygium size with astigmatism, improvement in uncorrected and best corrected visual acuity, patient satisfaction, intra- and postoperative complications. The study will assess refractive stability and visual results of simultaneous surgery to guide clinical decision making. |
