Brief Summary  

A descriptive study to assess the awareness on immediate response to out of hospital cardiac emergencies, readiness and barriers to seek prompt treatment during cardiac emergencies among drivers in selected areas of Udupi district

The purpose of the study is to assess the awareness on immediate response to out of hospital cardiac emergencies and to identify the barriers that may prevent them from seeking medical treatment. By recognizing their awareness, readiness and challenges to get timely medical help, the study aims to reduces the treatment delays and improve the health status. The result of this study gives an understanding of the awareness and the challenges of drivers which may help in developing intervention The objective of the study is to assess the awareness on immediate response to out of hospital cardiac emergencies using   structured questionnaire to assess the readiness to seek prompt treatment for cardiac emergencies among drivers using a checklist   to identify barriers to seek timely treatment for cardiac emergencies among drivers using checklist   to determine the relationship between awareness and readiness to seek prompt treatment for cardiac emergencies Quantitative research approach and descriptive cross sectional survey design will be used to collect the data by using purposive sampling technique from 428 drivers working in Udupi district Population are drivers and samples are male population who operate buses or autos in Manipal and Udupi city aged between 20 to 60 years The research instrument used for this study are Demographic proforma Structured questionnaire on awareness regarding immediate response to out of hospital cardiac emergencies Checklist on Readiness to seek prompt treatment during cardiac emergencies   Checklist on Barrier to seek prompt treatment during cardiac emergencies The validity of tools was established by the five experts Pretesting will be conducted among five participants and the reliability of the tool will be established by administering it to 20 participants The pilot study will be conducted among 42 samples after obtaining formal administrative permission from the authority concerned Main data collection is planned after getting approval from administrative permission  CTRI registration  and informed consent from each participants after explaining the subject information sheet after getting informed consent demographic proforma structured questionnaire on awareness regarding immediate response to out of hospital cardiac emergencies checklist on readiness to seek prompt treatment during cardiac emergencies   checklist on barrier to seek prompt treatment during cardiac emergencies scale tools will be administered to the participants The categorical data will be described using Frequency tables and percentage tables The quantitative variables in the study will be described using mean and standard deviation or median and interquartile range after an assessment of the skewness Pearson s correlation coefficient will be used to find the relationship between awareness on immediate response to out of hospital cardiac emergencies and readiness to seek prompt medical treatment during cardiac emergencies
