Title Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis by Individualised Homoeopathic Treatment Based on Miasmatic Evolution: A Case Series Study.
Introduction Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic autoimmune inflammatory disorder characterized by symmetrical joint involvement, pain, stiffness, deformities, and functional disability. Conventional management provides symptomatic relief but is often associated with adverse effects and does not prevent long-term disease progression. Homoeopathy offers an individualized, holistic approach with emphasis on totality of symptoms and miasmatic background, making it a potential alternative for long-term management of RA.
Research Gap Limited literature on the role of miasmatic analysis in RA
Lack of studies on individualized homoeopathic treatment in RA
Insufficient evidence on long-term outcomes of homoeopathic management
Poor understanding of psychological and miasmatic influences in RA
Need for systematic clinical evaluation through case series
Review of Literature (Brief) RA is a chronic inflammatory polyarthritis with extra-articular manifestations and progressive joint damage. It commonly affects women aged 40–60 years. Autoimmunity, genetic predisposition, cytokine imbalance, and environmental factors play a key role in pathogenesis. Homoeopathic literature considers RA as a degenerative disease arising from mixed chronic miasms—mainly psora, sycosis, and syphilis. Previous studies suggest symptomatic improvement with individualized homoeopathic treatment, though evidence remains limited.
Research Question What is the impact of miasmatic analysis–based individualized homoeopathic management in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Hypothesis H1 (Alternative): Miasmatic analysis–based homoeopathic management significantly improves clinical symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
H0 (Null): Miasmatic analysis–based homoeopathic management has no significant impact on clinical symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Objectives Primary Objective
To analyze the role of individualized homoeopathic treatment in the management of Rheumatoid Arthritis with miasmatic analysis.
Secondary Objectives
To evaluate the efficacy of homoeopathic medicines in reducing pain, inflammation, and improving mobility.
To assess the long-term impact of miasmatic homoeopathic treatment on disease progression and overall health.
Methodology Study Design: Case series study
Study Setting: Motiwala Homoeopathic Medical College OPD, peripheral OPDs, and camps
Sample Size: 30 cases
Sampling Technique: Simple random sampling
Study Duration: 18 months
Duration per Case: 6 months to 1 year
Follow-up: Every 15 days or as required
Inclusion Criteria Pre-diagnosed RA patients with RA factor >14 IU/ml
Patients of all ages and both genders
Exclusion Criteria Severe RA requiring hospitalization
Patients on other systems of treatment
Irregular or non-cooperative patients
Assessment Tools Homoeopathic case taking proforma
PROM & PREM scale
Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain
Data Analysis Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods (paired t-test / Wilcoxon test) with significance set at p < 0.05.
Expected Outcome The study aims to demonstrate that individualized homoeopathic treatment based on miasmatic analysis can effectively reduce symptoms, improve quality of life, and help in long-term management of Rheumatoid Arthritis. |
