Brief Summary
|
A cross sectional study to assess resilience, coping styles and self-efficacy among the undergraduate students at selected professional colleges of Udupi, Karnataka. The purpose of the study is to assess the levels of resilience, coping styles and self-efficacy among undergraduate students at selected professional colleges. The objectives of the study are to assess undergraduate students resilience level, identify academic stressors and coping styles used by undergraduate students, assess undergraduate students self-efficacy, determine the relationship among resilience, coping styles, and self-efficacy of undergraduate students. Quantitative research approach and descriptive correlational study design will be used. The research setting for the study is selected professional colleges of Udupi Taluk. The population comprised of undergraduate students from professional colleges. Participants comprised of first to fourth semester undergraduate students of selected professional colleges. The purposive sampling technique will be used to select the participants from the selected professional colleges. The sample size was calculated based on an anticipated prevalence of 50 percent and the sample size is 423. The research instrument used for the study are socio-demographic proforma , Connor Davidsons Resilience Scale (CD RISC 25), The Brief COPE Inventory Scale, General self-Efficacy Scale(GSES), and the dichotomous scale to assess academic stressors among undergraduate students. The validity of the tools was established by seven experts. Pre testing will be conducted among five participants and the reliability of the tool will be established by administering to 20 participants. The pilot study will be conducted after obtaining formal administrative permission from the dean, Institutional Research Committee, Institutional Ethic Committee of Kasturba Hospital , Manipal, and administrative permission will be obtained from selected colleges. A pilot study will involve 40 participants to evaluate the research designs clarity, practicability, and feasibility. The data collection is planned after getting formal approval from heads of the institute, inform consent from participants will be taken, subject information will be explained to the participants. After getting inform consent, socio-demographic proforma , Connor Davidsons Resilience Scale (CD RISC 25), The Brief COPE Inventory Scale, General self-Efficacy Scale(GSES), and the dichotomous scale to assess academic stressors will be administered to the participants. The data will be analysed using descriptive statistics, such as frequency, percentage, median and IQR, and Pearsons correlation coefficient will be used, using Jamovi 2.3.28 software. |
