Brief Summary
|
This study investigates the role of MRI in evaluating posterior fossa tumors, which account for nearly 60% of pediatric and 15–20% of adult brain tumors and often cause severe complications due to the confined anatomy of the region. Using a prospective, cross-sectional design over two years, patients with clinical suspicion of posterior fossa tumors will undergo high-resolution MRI on a 3T scanner, including standard (T1, T2, FLAIR, DWI, SWI, post-contrast) and advanced (MRS) sequences. The objectives are to identify and classify tumors by location, assess tumor extent and complications, and correlate imaging findings with histopathology where possible. The study highlights MRI as the gold standard for early, non-invasive, and accurate diagnosis, essential for surgical planning, treatment monitoring, and differentiating tumor recurrence from post-treatment changes, ultimately improving patient outcomes and aiding clinician training. |
