Brief Summary
|
Musculoskeletal disorders are highly prevalent among crop farmers due to repetitive manual tasks such as bending, lifting, awkward postures, and prolonged working hours. These disorders often lead to chronic pain, reduced work capacity and impaired quality of life. Limited evidence exists regarding the burden of musculoskeletal disorders among crop farmers in Goa.
This study aims to estimate the prevalence of MSDs and evaluate their correlation with quality of life among crop farmers in Goa. Crop farmers aged 30–60 years, engaged in farming for a minimum of 5 years, will be included. A total of 250 participants will be selected using a multistage cluster sampling technique across all 12 talukas of Goa. One Gram Panchayat (rural) and one Municipality (urban) will be randomly chosen from each taluka and participants will be selected randomly from these clusters.
Musculoskeletal disorders will be assessed using the Extended Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (Konkani version) and quality of life will be measured with the EuroQoL-5 Dimensional-5 Level questionnaire (Konkani version). Socioeconomic status will be evaluated using the Modified Kuppuswamy Socioeconomic Status Scale for the urban population and Udai Pareek Socioeconomic Status Scale for the rural population.
The findings of this study will provide region-specific evidence on the burden of musculoskeletal disorders and their relation with quality of life among crop farmers in Goa, support the development of preventive strategies and community-based physiotherapy interventions to improve farmers health and well-being. |
