Brief Summary
Raktagata vata can be understood by assessing the involved Doshas, Dooshyas, Srotases, Samuthan.
Sharira doshas (Vata - Pitta - Kapha) and Mansika doshas (Raja - Tama) gets vitiated by nidana sewans
which leads to Agni Mandhya, Dhatu Dushti (Rasa-Rakta) and Srotodushti (Rasavaha-Raktavaha). As a
result of this Vyana Prakopa takes place and Sthanasamsraya occurs in Dhamni, Shira and Sarwang
Sharira due to the Vikshepa bala of Vyana Vayu which leads to rise in the blood pressure. In Raktagata
vata, Rakta dhatu gets vitiated by Vata dosha, leading and it is unable to perform its normal function and
symptoms like Tivraruja, Santapa, Vaivarnya, Aruchi, Krishata Bhrama, Klama, Shirashula can be
observed in the patient. According to Acharya Charaka to understand a new clinical entity, which is not
described in the Samhita and physician is unable to diagnose the disease, then the treatment protocol
should be designed by assessing its Prakruti, Samuthan and Adhishtana
.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide, and many of these deaths can
be prevented by treating hypertension. Blood pressure is created by the force of blood pushing against the
walls of blood vessels (arteries) as it is pumped by the heart. The higher the pressure, the harder the heart
must pump and the more damage this excess pressure causes to many parts of the body, especially the
brain, heart and kidneys. In about 85% -95% of cases, a specific underlying cause of hypertension cannot
be identified and such hypertension is termed as essential hypertension. To catalyze national action, the
World Health Assembly adopted a comprehensive Global Monitoring Framework in 2013, comprised of nine voluntary global targets to be reached by 2025 which included a 25% relative reduction in the
prevalence of raised blood pressure.
