Kinetic Chain Activation Technique |
Kinetic Chain Activation Technique(K-CAT) is developed by Dr.K.M Annamalai and done by licensed physiotherapist trained in K-CAT through workshop.
Session duration is 15-20 minutes.
Frequency is 3 session per week for 2 weeks.
Lubrication used is vaseline to facilitate gliding.
Participant is supine lying
Technique used is cervical fascia release that is therapist uses knuckles to apply light sustained pressure along fascial plane posterior to the sternocleidomastoid from above clavicle to the occipital region while participant actively rotates head to the opposite side during release.Three repetitions per side.
For clavipectoral fascia release participant postion is supine, shoulder abducted to 90 degrees, elbow flexed to 90 degrees, makes a fist. Therapist will roll the tennis ball distal to proximal over clavipectoral fascia with light pressure while participant performs external rotation of the shoulder during release. Three repetitions per side.
This technique is used to reduce fascial restrictions. |

Brief Summary
|
Forward head posture (FHP) is a common postural problem among dentists often associated with chronic neck pain muscular imbalance and functional disability which negatively affect occupational health and quality of life. Conventional exercise approaches mainly target local muscle strengthening whereas newer techniques such as the Kinetic Chain Activation Technique (K-CAT) address global fascial restrictions and postural alignment in an integrated manner.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of K-CAT on craniovertebral angle neck pain and disability in dentists with forward head posture.
Dentists aged 25-40 years with FHP will be included in the study. Participants will undergo six K-CAT sessions (15–20 minutes each), delivered three times per week for duration of two weeks.
Craniovertebral angle, pain intensity (Numeric Pain Rating Scale) and disability (Neck Disability Index) will be measured before and after the intervention.
This study will help determine the effectiveness of K-CAT in improving posture reducing pain and enhancing occupational health in dentists. |
