Brief Summary
|
This document is about Dr Hinal Shah postgraduate research study at JN Medical College. The study looks at why first-time mothers, who are otherwise low-risk and expected to have a normal delivery , end up having a caesarean section.
Such cases are called NTSV pregnancies which means Nulliparous = first pregnancy, Term = full-term, Single = one baby, Vertex = head-first position. Normally, these women should deliver vaginally. The rise is a concern because unnecessary caesareans can cause more health problems for mothers, longer recovery, higher costs, and also increase the chances of repeat caesareans in future pregnancies.
The study will take place at a tertiary care hospital in Belagavi over one year. About 345 women will be studied. Their pregnancy details, reasons for caesarean, and outcomes for both mother and baby will be recorded and analyzed. The aim is to find out the main reasons for caesareans in this group and see if some of them can be avoided.
The project has ethical clearance, informed consent will be taken, and no extra risk or cost is involved for the patients.
In short, the research is trying to answer: “Why are so many low-risk first-time mothers having caesareans, and how can we reduce unnecessary ones?” |
