Brief Summary
|
Prakriti emphasizes how a person’s body & mind naturally work from birth which helps to give right care & understand their health. Prakriti plays a significant role in determining Bala (Physical strength) in an individual. Bala refers to the biological strength or the inherent ability of an individual to withstand physical strain. According to Ayurveda exercise should be performed up to half of one’s capacity (Ardhashakti) particularly by individuals who are physically strong, during Shita kala (Hemanta and Shishira Ritu) but in other seasons it should be milder. Acharya Charaka has described classification of Bala based on Vyayama shakti: Pravara Bala, Madhyama Bala & Avara Bala. It has been observed that Bala (Physical strength) is directly dependent on naturally inherited Prakriti: Individuals with Kapha Prakriti generally possess Uttama bala (Optimum strength), those with Pitta Prakriti tends to have Madhyama bala (Moderate strength), while those with Vata Prakriti usually exhibit Hina bala (Low strength). This difference in Physical strength is attributed to the inherent qualities of the Doshas that dominate each Prakriti. Three Ritu/seasons each of two months starting from Shishira, Vasanta and Grishma. When the Sun is in southward position to the Earth, the period is called Visarga Kala and it includes three Ritu/seasons starting from Varsha, Sharada and Hemanta. As stated in Charaka Samhita; In the beginning of Visarg Kala & at the end of Adana Kala. Human beings on the Earth experience weakness/ low strength. In the middle of two periods human possess medium strength. At the end of Visarga Kala & at beginning of Adana Kala the strength in Human beings is maximum. This study is aim to observe Deha Prakriti with validated Prakriti proforma and Bala with Modified Harvard step test in peak of Adana Kala and Visarga Kala. |
