Brief Summary
|
Hemorrhoids are a common anorectal condition affecting nearly 4–5% of the global population and up to 50% of individuals in India by mid-life. Grade 1 and 2 hemorrhoids are generally managed conservatively, yet many patients continue to suffer from bleeding, pain, itching and prolapse. Conventional treatments often provide only symptomatic relief and may carry discomfort or risk of recurrence, creating a need for safe, evidence-based alternatives.Homoeopathy, based on individualization, has shown promising results in treating hemorrhoids. While Collinsonia canadensis 30C is frequently prescribed for hemorrhoids characterized by vascular engorgement, constipation, and sharp rectal sensations, its clinical use is mostly experiential. At the same time, tools like Murphy’s Repertory help select individualized remedies, but direct comparative evidence in hemorrhoids is limited.
This study is a double-arm, double-blind, randomized controlled trial comparing individualized homoeopathic remedies selected using Murphy Repertory with Collinsonia 30C in Grade 1 & 2 hemorrhoids. Seventy-five patients will be enrolled and randomized into two groups, with outcomes assessed every 21 days over six months. The primary outcome measure is reduction in Hemorrhoid Severity Score (HSS) based on the PNR-Bleed classification. Data will be analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test (inter-group) and Friedman test (intra-group).
This study aims to generate scientific evidence comparing individualized prescribing with a commonly used specific remedy, thereby contributing to evidence-based homoeopathic management of hemorrhoids and guiding more rational clinical decision-making.
