Brief Summary
Nephrolithiasis (kidney stone disease) is a common global health problem with rising incidence, recurrence, and economic burden. Conventional treatments such as analgesics, hydration therapy, lithotripsy, and surgery often have side effects and high recurrence rates, creating a need for safer and more effective therapeutic approaches.Bryophyllum pinnatum, known for its traditional use in kidney stones, contains citric, malic, and isocitric acids, which help dissolve or prevent the formation of calcium-based stones through calcium chelation and antilithogenic action. Although many homeopathic medicines are used for nephrolithiasis, focused clinical evidence on Bryophyllum mother tincture alone is limited.

This study is designed as a single-arm, open-label interventional clinical study to evaluate the effect of Bryophyllum pinnatum mother tincture in patients aged 18–60 years with ultrasonography-confirmed nephrolithiasis. Thirty patients will be selected (after accounting for dropouts) from OPD/IPD settings of JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College.Patients will receive Bryophyllum Mother tincture , 10 drops in 15 ml water, thrice daily for one week, followed by regular follow-ups over three months. USG and urinalysis will assess changes.

Primary outcome is reduction in number and size of renal calculi. and Secondary outcomes is Reduction in frequency of renal colic and improvement in symptoms.Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistics (McNemar’s test), following ethical standards. The study aims to provide clinical evidence on the effectiveness of Bryophyllum mother tincture in treating nephrolithiasis.
