Brief Summary
|
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of two high-intensity training methods—Repeated Sprint Training (RST) and Sprint Interval Training (SIT)—on the aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, and agility of male cricketers aged 18–25 years. Since cricket is an intermittent sport that involves frequent short sprints, quick directional changes, powerful bowling actions, and continuous movement throughout a match, players require strong aerobic endurance, anaerobic power, and repeated sprint ability to perform efficiently. RST focuses on several short sprints with brief recovery, improving fatigue resistance during repeated efforts, while SIT involves all-out maximal sprints with longer recovery, enhancing anaerobic performance and VO2max. A randomized controlled trial will be conducted on 32 trained cricketers who meet the inclusion criteria, and they will be randomly allocated into two groups—Group A receiving RST with long-interval HIIT and Group B receiving SIT with long-interval HIIT over a 6-week training period. Performance outcomes will be measured at baseline and after the intervention using the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test for aerobic capacity, the Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) for anaerobic capacity, and the Illinois Agility Test for agility. Data will be statistically analysed using SPSS version 25, with normality tested by Shapiro-Wilk and appropriate parametric or non-parametric tests applied for within-group and between-group comparisons, considering significance. This research will help determine which training method is more beneficial for improving cricket-specific fitness qualities. |
