Intervention / Comparator Agent
Type  Name  Details
Intervention  Arm ability training   Arm ability training is a specialized intervention for arm paresis to enhance speed, strength, accuracy, endurance, and functional abilities. The program consists of eight training exercises, focusing on increasing the sensorimotor capabilities of the arm, hand, and fingers, resulting in better motor performance and functional abilities in individuals with arm paresis
Intervention  Mirror therapy   The patient should sit comfortably with the mirror between their affected and unaffected limb. Patients are asked to align the reflection of their unaffected limb with the position of their affected limb so that the reflection appears as if it is in the same location as the affected limb hidden behind the mirror. 3 sessions per week for 8 weeks

Brief Summary

Assessing the effectiveness of arm ability training versus mirror therapy on hand functions  and motor aphasia recovery in stroke survivors: a comparative study

 - MCA strokes commonly lead to upper-extremity motor deficits and non-fluent aphasia, creating a need for targeted rehabilitation. It highlights that Prior studies show both AAT and MT independently improve hand motor function and support language recovery through shared neural mechanisms. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Arm Ability Training (AAT) versus Mirror Therapy (MT) on hand function and motor aphasia recovery parallelly in stroke survivors.  The aim is to determine whether one intervention is superior in improving motor and language outcomes. The study uses an interventional comparative design with stroke survivors in Bangalore over 8 weeks, employing tools like the Western Aphasia Battery and the Fugl-Meyer UE scale. Participants receive either AAT or MT along with conventional physiotherapy.
