Brief Summary

This study investigates the effectiveness of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy in treating lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) among racket sport players. Tennis elbow is an overuse injury causing pain and functional limitations due to repetitive wrist extension and forearm movements. Although physiotherapy is the primary treatment, PEMF therapy is emerging as a promising non-invasive modality that may improve pain, tissue healing, grip strength, and function.

The study uses a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) with 64 participants, divided into:

  • Group A: PEMF + conventional physiotherapy
  • Group B: Conventional physiotherapy only

Treatment is provided 5 times per week for 4 weeks. Outcomes measured include pain (VAS), grip strength (dynamometer), elbow ROM (goniometer), and functional ability (PRTEE).

The study aims to determine whether PEMF offers additional benefits over standard physiotherapy in reducing pain, improving grip strength, enhancing functional performance, and restoring elbow movement. It fills a research gap, as limited evidence exists on PEMF use specifically in racket sports athletes.
