Brief Summary
Modification(s)
|
The study evaluated the effectiveness of a nurse-led intervention on physio-psychological parameters among patients with coronary artery disease in a selected tertiary care hospital in Mangaluru. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control-group design was used, with 72 participants, comprising 36 in each of the intervention and control groups. The intervention included researcher-guided meditation and structured health education. Physiological parameters (SBP, DBP, and pulse rate), psychological parameters (depression, anxiety, and stress using the DASS-21), and CAD-related knowledge (CADE-Q II) were assessed. The intervention group showed significant reductions in SBP, DBP, pulse rate, depression, anxiety and stress, along with a marked improvement in knowledge. The between-group differences in physiological parameters were statistically significant (p < 0.001), and significant associations were identified between selected baseline/clinical variables and outcomes. Overall, the findings demonstrate that the nurse-led intervention was effective in improving both physiological and psychological outcomes and enhancing CAD-related knowledge among patients with coronary artery disease |
