Brief Summary

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are common among tailors due to repetitive movements, poor posture, and prolonged sitting, leading to pain, fatigue, and reduced productivity. Since most tailors work in informal sectors with limited healthcare access, there is a need for a simple, cost-effective intervention. Yoga, known to improve flexibility, posture, and mental well-being, may serve as a preventive and therapeutic approach. This study aims to evaluate the effect of integrated yoga practice on occupational disorders among tailors. A randomized controlled trial will be conducted on 76 tailors (38 in experimental and 38 in control groups) from Shri Dharmasthala Siri Gramodhyoga Samaste, Beltangady. The experimental group will practice an integrated yoga protocol—including loosening exercises, asanas, pranayama, and relaxation—for one hour daily, five days a week for eight weeks. Similarly control group will undergo supine rest for 1 hour for one hour daily, five days a week for eight weeks. Outcomes will be assessed using Electromyography (EMG), Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), and Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). Data will be analyzed using SPSS version 27.In conclusion, the study seeks to determine whether yoga can effectively reduce musculoskeletal pain, improve muscle activity, and enhance sleep quality among tailors.
