Brief Summary   This qualitative study aims to explore the experiences of disenfranchised grief among parents of individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia spectrum disorders and mood disorders. Disenfranchised grief refers to grief that is not socially acknowledged, supported or validated leaving parents feeling isolated and emotionally burdened. Participants will be assessed using the Mental Illness Version of the Texas Inventory of Grief and interviewed using a semi-structured schedule. Data will be analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic Analysis method with NVivo software. The findings will help to deepen the understanding of this unexplored issue in the Indian context and contribute to the development of sensitive interventions and support systems for affected families
